The Montclair Center Corporation is spearheading a comprehensive pedestrian wayfinding & signage system in Montclair, NJ. A well known destination for restaurants, the addition of the Wellmont Theatre and regional retailers has brought many new visitors to Montclair and greatly increased pedestrian traffic. This new pedestrian activity, coupled with
a transit grant, has given the township the opportunity to implement a comprehensive pedestrian wayfinding system to encourage visitors to explore the rest of town.
Arterial was responsible for the design and development of this pedestrian wayfinding system. Working directly with the Montclair B.I.D’s executive director and key stakeholders, design direction and key destinations were determined. The look and scale of the pedestrian pole and information kiosk were vetted along with mapping pedestrian routes and determining sign locations. Development of a complete bid package including graphic specifications, construction details, sign content and technical specifications for over 45 signs was completed, followed by construction observation throughout implementation.
